So, last week I decided that I needed to do an email shout out to all the funeral directors. I found my business card wallet and composed my email. With the email sent and a couple of alterations to the misspelling of an email address and wondered why it bounced back, All done.
I received a response form a funeral director I visited back in 2018. Someone new in branch I see!!! Few email exchanged later and a booked appointment to go an see them Wednesday this week. Up i rock and armed with my business card and leaflet and something to show of my working abilities.
A great appointment and I hope I hear to hear from them soon.
So, off I trot back to my car in the rain, and thought can they really be the only funeral directors in this town??? Good old internet, checked the area and found three more. Having looked along the road couldn't see anything from street view. What it was showing me was an old shop.
Drive car out of car park and then drive along the road exit with satnav on and then there it was the funeral directors I had never noticed before. Round the roundabout I go and back in to the same car park (luckily it was a free car park) probably looking to other shop owners as some fool who cannot decide if he is leaving or not, and re parked.
Walking up to the found funeral directors, I noticed there was on next door as well. I am sure it wasn't there when I drove past a minute ago. In I go and the kind staff in branch asked if could return in half an hour as they were just about to see a family, but would really like to sit and speak with me. Naturally I agree.
Off I go and call in next door, after a little conversation they too are due a family, however the lady said to return the latter end of the week as a new starter works then and it would be good for them to meet a new celebrant and see what they think.
Back to the car park I go and remove the car and go to the other funeral directors I knew was up the road that I had not been ever able to call in to when passing. In I go and spoke to a lovely lady and as much as she loved what I had to say and thought I would be great for so many of the families she had arranged a funeral for recently, ultimately it was the owners decision as to who they can and cant use.
With a heads up as to when they would be in next week I knew I was going to have to return. The door opened and in the owner walked. After a good conversation he agreed he would use my services.
Back in the car and return to the previous car park for a third time and visit the other funeral directors. What two amazing people. heard my spiel and loved how and what I presented and said they would use my services.
I felt I was on a good role and having a positive role. Again googled the area and found yet another 5 miles away so again moved car for car park and headed in that direction. left there feeling positive too.
Anyway, yesterday my phone rang and to my surprise it was the funeral directors that asked me to return in 30 mins to see them. The had a funeral for me they wanted my services for.
Just goes to show, going out and about really does pay off.
